  Altar servers have many important duties at Mass, including:

  • Carrying the cross, incense and candles during processions

  • Holding the Missal for the priest during prayers

  • Assisting with the preparation of the altar for the Liturgy of the Eucharist

  • Ringing the bells to announce the consecration of the bread and wine
